VALLEY FORGE, Pa. -- The new Welcome Center at Valley Forge National Historical Park opens October 12-13 with a new exhibit and an activity-filled weekend aimed at attracting both recreational users and history buffs. Guided tours by park rangers; interactive programs for kids on 18th century dress, games and toys; baking demonstrations in outdoor earthen ovens; and a talk on recent archaeological discoveries are among the weekend's activities which take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are free of charge.
