Valio of Finland has formed a joint venture with Latvian dairy company Rigas Piena Kombinats to market functional foods, mainly the Valio Gefilus product range, in the latter's home market
The new entity, RPK Valio, is due to start operations early next year. The turnover target for 2003 has been set at 1.4 million euros ($1.4 million) and at 2.4 million euros for 2004.
Drinking yogurts and curds that are manufactured in Valio's Leave dairy in Estonia, by subsidiary Valio Eesti AS, will be launched in Latvia later this fall by RPK and its Rasa brand. RPK is already the country's market leader with its Rasa fresh products. The Valio brand, however, will ...
