Oct. 7--Furniture Services Inc. decided last fall it was time to get help with the "human resources" side of its business.
The Columbia company, which provides housing and furniture for corporate relocations, had grown to about 100 employees. Its finance department traditionally handled the tasks of managing payroll and benefits, along with hiring and firing employees.
But taking care of employee issues on a part-time basis was becoming a challenge, said Phoebe Sanders, the company's chief operating officer.
