Alcatel, the French telecoms equipment manufacturer, has turned to SG to lead a [euro]324m ($317m) sale of shares in Thales, the electronic defense group, after using Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) for a similar sale last year.SG has a longstanding relationship with Alcatel. The French bank and Goldman Sachs were joint global co-ordinators and bookrunners of the flotation of Nexans, the cable manufacturer spun off by Alcatel, in June last year. Alcatel sold 80% of its holding in Nexans to raise [euro]543.4m.
