Michael Blumm's criticisms of salmon recovery costs ("BPA tally of salmon costs pretty fishy," Sept. 26) are unfortunately riddled with factual errors and squarely aimed at the messenger. Salmon recovery in the Northwest is too important to play fast and loose with the facts. If we are to succeed in this work we must be willing to consider all available information and make the best judgments possible.
Blumm is wrong to imply that the Bonneville Power Administration calculates the cost of hydrosystem operations for fish only as a ploy to undermine salmon protection measures. And he is wrong to write ...
