Citigroup/ Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) has adopted a new proposal from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requiring individual analysts to certify their research reports.The proposed regulation analyst certification covers debt and equity securities. It requires analysts to certify that research reports accurately reflect their personal views and to reveal whether they received compensation for views or specific recommendations in the report.
Analysts also need to make the same certifications on a quarterly basis in relation to any public appearances. Industry comments on the proposal are due by September 23.
