With the National Basketball Association well into its free-agent signing period and with those names ranking among the highest-profile signees to date, it's not difficult to conclude that this is not a banner year for players who are selling their wares on the open market.
But such is life in the cost-conscious NBA these days.
"I haven't seen a time like this before," said Indiana Pacers president Donnie Walsh. "One, there aren't that many teams under (the limit) from the luxury tax standpoint and two, there just aren't that many high-profile free agents."
