LAS VEGAS -- Speaking at the American Osteopathic Association's 107th annual convention and scientific seminar, Margot Waitz, D.O., reported that while men continue to have a higher rate of illicit drug use than women, women appear to be more negatively affected by their substance abuse.
"In 2000, 35 percent of males ages 12 and up were current users of tobacco products compared to 24 percent of females," said Dr. Waitz, an osteopathic physician and director of the adolescent and young adult medicine division at Christiana Care Health Services in Wilmington, Del.
