Oct. 10--Members of troubled AmCare Health Plans of Texas will soon have an option to join the area's most profitable health maintenance organization under a plan cobbled together by state regulators.
In addition, the state has struck a deal with Texas Children's Health Plan to provide coverage for the soon-to-be-defunct insurer's Medicaid enrollees and is nearing another for its Medicare members.
HMO Blue Texas, which is owned by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, will offer health benefits coverage to AmCare's commercial HMO members beginning Nov. 1.
