Tapie repays loan
CHICAGO - French investor Bernard Tapie last week completed repayment of a 1.6 billion franc ($289.9 million) loan he used to pay for an 80 percent stake in Adidas AG, Adidas president Rene Jaeggi told FN during the National Sporting Goods Association's World Sports Expo here.
Under Tapie's ownership, Adidas plans big changes in 1992, including a public offering and a corporate headquarter move, possibly even outside West Germany, Jaeggi disclosed last week.
Jaeggi said Tapie also had purchased an additional 15 percent of Adidas from Metro International AG. A spokesperson at Tapie could not confirm the report.
