Oct. 12--If the three top real estate principles are location, location and location, the top trio for stocks is profits, profits and profits. Investors proved that again with the first positive week for stock averages since late August.
Surprisingly upbeat profit news from bellwether companies such as General Electric, International Business Machines, Yahoo and Aetna on Thursday and Friday seemed to make a mockery of recent dismal profit forecasts.
