FOXBORO - Two months ago, while mired close to last place and giving up more than two goals a game, the Revolution and MLS Cup finalists didn't belong in the same sentence.
But yesterday, the team's rise out of the perpetual doldrums that marked the franchise for the better part of its seven-year existence reached its apex with a 2-2 tie against the Columbus Crew in Game 3 of the semifinals, earning the Revs a berth in the MLS Cup next Sunday at Gillette Stadium. They will face the Los Angeles Galaxy, who beat them in the final of the U.S. Open Cup last year, 2-1.
