Sole proprietors should be able to contain their health costs by finding more insurance plans covering them at cheaper group rates now that a new state law to that effect has been enacted, an industry spokeswoman said.
"Our planners feel they will be able to. provide coverage to sole proprietors under this legislation without assuming the significant losses they had been incurring till now," said Leslie Moran, a spokeswoman for the New York health Plan Association Inc., an Albany group that represents 20 commercially licensed HMOs.
