Midlands MPs have been rallied by councillors who want to join the local government pension scheme (LGPS).
Currently, non-executive elected council representatives are not eligible to join the scheme despite support from the Local Government Pensions Committee. The Committee believes membership would allow councillors to make up for shortfalls in their pension savings due to unpaid council work.
