SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- During a recent analysis, Pharmaceutical Care Network (PCN), a leading pharmacy benefit management and health care information company, uncovered an average of more than two potentially harmful drug therapy interactions per patient.
Using its MedIntelligence Prescriber Advisor program PCN reviewed many of its client's drug usage patterns and individual patient drug therapies. PCN consistently finds areas for potential improvement in patients' drug therapy regimens including reducing the risk of drug interactions, eliminating unnecessary duplicate therapy and alerting physicians to cases where drugs are not being taken as they should.
