Top scientists gathered in Boston say the war on cancer is poised for a breakthrough that will hinge on stopping the dreaded disease before it even starts.
Just as doctors 20 years ago moved beyond simply treating heart disease to identifying and treating prime risk factors, such as high blood pressure, researchers yesterday said that novel drugs and detection methods that focus on prevention may be the best ways to combat cancer.
