(Sports Network) - Fear not baseball fans, there will be no mention of rally monkeys or splash down home runs here. Putting those annoyances aside, the upcoming World Series has all the makings of a memorable Fall Classic replete with intriguing story lines and one larger-than-life hero trying to fulfill an epic legacy. Who needs gimmicks?

The 2002 World Series will feature two wild card teams for the first time ever, making a valid case for baseball's new era of competitive parity in spite of the rampant economic inequities that threatened to destroy the sport.
