AFTER SEVEN years as the coxswain for the United States women's eight, Yasmin Farooq decided to retire after the Olympic final in 1996.
"It was very disappointing," she said of the U.S. team's fourth-place finish in the Games in Barcelona, Spain. "We peaked two weeks early. We set a world record two weeks before the Olympics."
Farooq's retirement from the sport lasted only six months.
