As he prepared to stage "My Fair Lady" at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre last year, artistic director Michael Brindisi said one day over lunch that the Lerner and Loewe musical treatment of George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion" might be the best musical of all time. Wow, really?
Several months later, Brindisi was poring over reams of literature about Meredith Willson and marching bands and showing off a video of his visit to Willson's hometown, Mason City, Iowa. "Music Man," he said, is so relevant, so important right now, maybe the perfect musical for these times. Jeepers, where do I sign up for trombone lessons?
