There's been a lot of buzz about the potentials of "sperm washing," an insemination technique that allows HIV-negative women with positive male partners ("serodiscordant" or "magnetic" couples) to safely get pregnant. A center in Milan, Italy, has been on the forefront of testing this technology, which involves collecting semen, then separating the sperm cells (which, according to certain studies, do not contain HIV) from the non-sperm cells (which do contain HIV).
