`Kids' Fall 2nd Time Around the PPV Block
NEW YORK - Buy-rates for Showtime Event Television's Dec. 7 New Kids on the Block pay-per-view concert were well below the group's first appearance on PPV in March, according to operators. The concert was also the victim of yet another botched national promotion campaign featuring a major retailer.
Operators said buy-rates for the concert, which was sold by most systems at $19.95, ranged from a 0.7 to a 1.4. Last March, Reiss Media Productions and RBM Television Corp. distributed a New Kids concert that received a national buy-rate of over 2 percent, the companies said.
