Oct. 18--America West Airlines continued to lose millions -- and exude optimism.
America West Holdings, parent company of the Tempe-based carrier, announced Thursday a net loss of $31 million in the third quarter.
"We are positioned to be among the first airlines to return to profitability," said Doug Parker, America West Holdings chief executive officer. But given the state of the industry, no one can be certain when that return will come, Parker said in a Web cast.
