I listened in a recent debate as Attorney General Jim Doyle gave his closing remarks on why he deserved to be the next governor of Wisconsin.
He didn't mention that Wisconsin has lost hundreds upon thousands of well-paying manufacturing jobs. He didn't mention that Milwaukee never shared in the economic boom of the 1990s. He didn't mention the growing disparity of wealth between the white-collar educated work force and those left behind in our "global economy." After almost 30 years in public life, all Doyle could say was that he wouldn't raise taxes.
