As the Tattersalls October Sale closed on Saturday lunchtime, there was a sigh of relief throughout the bloodstock industry after this five-day event, the longest and traditionally most informative British yearling auction, had seen a rock solid trade resulting in new records for average and median.
The 43,076gns average beat the 2000 record by 3.6 per cent and was up 24 per cent on 12 months ago. The 30,000gns median beat the previous best by 15.4 per cent and the 2001 figure by 43 per cent.
