Have you ever seen a real bat? A bat can fly, but they are not like birds. A bat's body is covered with fur, not feathers. Thin skin stretches over its arm bones and long finger bones to form its wings. A bat does not lay eggs, either. A bat mother feeds her baby milk.

Bats hunt at night. Small bats have great hearing and use sound to find insects to eat. These bats make tiny beeping sounds too high for humans to hear. The sounds bounce off objects in its path. The bat hears the echoes and can tell if a meal is nearby. This is call echolocation Large bats use their good vision and strong sense of smell to find foods like fruit and flowers to eat.
