Q. Do you know of anything I can use to get rid of ants in my yard? I have a dog, and there are many pets in my neighborhood.
A. Scatter Borax in the area. The ants carry particles to their nests. It's harmless to pets and birds.
Q. Our White pine has a dead tip. What is it, and will it kill the rest of the tree?
A. You have the white pine weevil, a Number 1 pest. It doesn't kill the tree, but destroys the shape. A single insect attack can eliminate two to four years of growth. CONTROL: None. No spray is effective. Cut out the tip below the affected part. Burn the tip, or send it to a landfill.
