FAR AND AWAY, THE NO. 1 complaint we receive about insurance in our state relates to health insurance: Consumers are concerned health insurance costs much more than they can afford to pay.
After experiencing relatively incremental health care and health insurance cost increases during the mid- to late 1990s, Americans have seen double-digit increases in recent years, including an estimated overall increase of 13.7 percent between 2001 and 2002 for large employers, according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers report published earlier this year.
