The Capitol campaign scandal and the loss of a federal grant have enlivened the race for Dane County district attorney.
Brian Blanchard, elected two years ago, and his challenger, former Sheriff Rick Raemisch, have also debated the finer points of prosecution and administration.
Raemisch contends that the 17-month probe into illegal campaign activity at the Capitol has taken too long, has yielded too little and should have been led by someone other than Blanchard. And he said the district attorney's office botched the two-year, $1-million federal Violence Against Women Act grant that the county received for six years.
