Dear Carol: I received an amaryllis bulb pack last Christmas. I followed directions as to care, and the following took place: First, a stem appeared that ended with four beautiful blooms 8 1/2 inches in circumference, lacking leaves. Then a second stem, with four more same-size blooms.
After the death of blooms, I placed bulb in its pot outside for the summer. Early September, I spotted a bright red in a spot in my back garden where there should not have been any color.
Eureka, it was another stem, in full bloom again. This time it also had four long leaves, which it had not had originally.
