Although many camera clubs are older, the 50th anniversary of the Minneapolis Color Photo Club (MCPC), is a milestone in camera club annals because it was the first club in the United States to be devoted exclusively to color slide photography as an art form.

Kodachrome 35mm film became available to the public in 1936, but it wasn't until 1940 that Kodak began processing this film with a color-correcting light source, making a significant improvement in quality.
