A Photo Tour of the -- Virgin Islands
My friend Alex and I, believing an interesting subject enhances the value of a photograph, embarked on a two-week tour of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
These islands have a colorful history. They were discovered by Columbus in 1493, on his second voyage. He was impressed by their pristine beauty and their large number, and so he named them the Virgin Islands, in honor of Saint Ursula and her 11,000 virgins. Later, the islands were the center of pirates' activities. The observation towers "Blackbeard's Castle," and "Bluebeard's Castle" can still be seen.
