Not only the top guns of the defense industry stand to gain from increased defense spending over the next several years. Smaller defense firms making highly advanced products are lining up as well-and catching the eye of investors.
In the post-Sept. 11 environment, market analysts say defense stocks are well worth a look by investors seeking a solid return over several years. The Pentagon procurement budget will grow nearly 15% to $78 billion annually by 2005 as the armed services spend billions on both newly developed advanced weapons and tried-and-true munitions depleted in recent campaigns.
