Good news for those taking high blood pressure medications: Two recent studies, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, offer further evidence that in many instances blood pressure can be lowered through non-drug practices. The studies suggest that patients may not have to take antihypertensive medications for life.
Though the studies show great promise in validating lifestyle modifications as an alternative to drugs, people who are taking blood pressure medications should never taper off from using them without first discussing it with their doctors.
