Sitting in his spanking new offices in the heart of one of Tunis's new prestige development areas, Manfredo Fanti, the acting head of the European Commission delegation in Tunisia is quite emphatic. "Tunisia," he says, "is a model for other countries in the region to emulate".
Fanti is one of a 40--strong team from the EC. It's main function is to carry out EU policies and co-ordinate with local Tunisian authorities. It monitors projects which are funded by the EC and acts as a link with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
