Budapest. October 24. INTERFAX-EUROPE - HUNGARY WANTS TO JOIN EU UNDER "JUST TERMS," SAYS PRESIDENT MADL. In his speech to the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg, president of the republic Ferenc Madl emphasized that Hungary wishes to join the EU under "just terms," and that no difference should be made between older and new members in any way. Hungarian citizens should enjoy the benefits of accession from "the first moment on," he added. Madl also pointed out that based on population, Hungary should receive 22 seats in the EP, instead of the 20 afforded it under the Nice Treaty. The EP supports this request, ...
