Like its competitors in the airline industry, Air Jamaica has felt the effects of Sept. 11, 2001, and the downturn in the U.S. economy. However, says Allen Chastanet, Air Jamaica's vice president of sales and marketing-North America: "In terms of how we have fared, I think we have done better than most." Even during this time of uncertainty in the travel industry, Air Jamaica has continued to grow, as June 20 marked Air Jamaica's first flight to Antigua since mid-1998.

The airline now serves the island with nonstop flights from New York-JFK and offers direct service from the airline's Montego Bay hub on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays. The ...
