Less than two years after it was formed and before a developer has even been selected for its signature project, a regional Port Authority is seeking to expand its powers and scope.
Port Authority board members are asking Cincinnati and Hamilton County officials to give the fledgling agency all the powers allowed under state law.
Specifically, the Port Authority is seeking eminent domain power - the ability to force the sale of land from unwilling owners if it deems the property is needed for a public purpose.
Also, the Port Authority wants the ability to ask voters for tax levies, and for city ...
