Oct. 25--A developer in Fort Bend County is poised to fill the blank space between the master-planned communities there that have made this one of the fastest growing counties in the country.
The 2,000 acres of land, which drew a top bid of $37.5 million, had been used as farmland, worked by the prisoners confined by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Newland Communities, a San Diego-based company that has developed scores of communities, including several in Fort Bend County, placed the highest bid at the sale, run by the state's General Land Office.
