Introducing Your Child to the Water
Given demonstration and practice, a child will successfully perform aquatics activities. The following are reasonable goals parents should aim for in working with their children and steps which will help parents reach these goals.
THE FIRST GOAL IS FOR:
Your child to be able to tolerate the water for increasing periods of time. To achieve this, follow these 11 steps:
(1) Hold your child in your lap while being next to the water.
(2) Give your child a verbal cue: "I am going to touch water on your body."
