San Francisco, Calif. -- During the World Series, there have been many references to how his experiences with the Dodgers led Giants manager Dusty Baker to his current position.
If they only knew.
Prior to a 16-4 victory in Game 5 that put San Francisco one victory away from winning the Series, Baker said Thursday afternoon he didn't "foresee myself as a manager. I foresaw myself retired and fishing every day."
What changed his mind? "The way Al Rosen came after me," he said. "And after Al Campanis said what he said in 1987."
