Last Saturday night Selina Scott settled in front of the television in her London home to watch a BBC programme about herself which she knew would be painful. It was called Fame, Set And Match and it charted her professional career and her private life. It was what is known in the trade as a 'hatchet job'.
The show claimed that Selina was only interested in money and status, and that she had consciously imitated Princess Diana in a bid to enhance her 'regal' image. It insinuated that she was a lesbian, that she was lazy and that she was lucky to have had a career at all.
