BANKER Roberto Calvi - found hanging under Blackfriars Bridge in London 20 years ago - was murdered, an Italian inquiry has found.
The results of the investigation, based on a new autopsy of Calvi's body, will be reviewed by two judges in Rome, who will decide whether to order a murder trial involving three members of the Mafia, sources in Rome said yesterday.
Calvi, boss of Banco Ambrosiano, which collapsed in 1982, was dubbed 'God's banker' because of close ties to the Vatican. But he was also suspected of links with the Mafia.
