According to Syanga Abilio, Chairman of the local state-owned SOCIEDADE NACIONAL DE COMBUSTIVEIS DE ANGOLA (SONANGOL), his company is now gearing-up to build a new oil refinery in the country. As things currently stand, preliminary works are said to be proceeding ahead according to schedule.

Construction plans under consideration call for building the proposed plant at Lobito. The cost to complete the project, by the year 2007, has been pegged at $1,000,000,000.
