PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Canada-based FIRST QUANTUM MINERALS is now said to be advancing its 80% owned Kansanshi surface copper/gold deposit that is located adjacent the Congo border. According to the results of ongoing project feasibility study the development envisions a 2-stage operation.
The first phase that is expected to last for 11 years would involve focusing on the property's shallow oxides and mixed oxides. This stage's reserves have been estimated at 73 million tons grading 1.74% copper and 0.27 gr of gold per ton of ore.
