Stone Gossard is chatting away on a cell phone as he walks down a street in Atlanta, making his way to the club where his band will play that night. You wonder whether passers-by realize that the guitarist for Pearl Jam, one of the most successful rock bands of the last decade, is in town. Certainly no one bothers him.
But Gossard isn't in Atlanta on Pearl Jam business. That mighty machine will soon kick into gear for the release of its seventh album, "Riot Act," due Nov. 12 on Epic Records.
