ANAHEIM, Calif. - Dusty Baker said Peter Magowan's reluctance to talk to him about a new contract for next season spoke volumes on whether or not the San Francisco owner had any plans of keeping his manager around.

"If somebody wanted me back, you wouldn't wait until the last minute to tell them," said Baker, who has managed the Giants for the last 10 seasons, prior to his team's 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Angels in Game 7 of the World Series.
