The Oswego High School marching band nearly won its division Sunday at the New York State Field Band Conference championship show at the Carrier Dome.
Oswego finished second, behind the band from West Genesee.
The Oswego team had been gunning for a victory over West Genesee. Immediately after the Buccaneers finished their performance, Oswego band director Bill Palange watched his alma mater, West Genesee High School, take the field.
He's still close to his old school's program, particularly since Oswego competes in the same class as West Genesee.
"We still want to beat them," he said.
