The need for E-Mail Encryption and electronic is well known and widely accepted. Standard based E-Mail traffic on the internet does not have any security mechanisms, that prevent others from reading E-Mail messages. SMTP also does not have any mechanisms that authenticate the sender of a message. Thus a message sent over the internet, can easily be read by someone who is not necessarily the recipient The recipient can also never be absolutely sure, that the sender is the person stated on the message.
