Oct. 29--With a week to go before election day, the race between Republican Gov. Scott McCallum and Democrat Jim Doyle has tightened up considerably, according to a new statewide poll released Monday by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Election 2002
The poll of 418 likely voters shows Doyle leading McCallum, 38 percent to 36 percent, with 16 percent of likely voters undecided. Ed Thompson, the Libertarian candidate, received support from 8 percent of those surveyed.
The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
