State Sen. Nancy Larraine Hoffmann's announcement Monday of a $100,000 grant to buy a weed harvester belies her poor environmental record, her challenger said.
"Is she doing this all of the sudden because she has had an environmental revelation, or is she doing this because she is concerned about Election Day?" asked Rosemary Painter, the Democrat running against Hoffmann in the newly configured 49th Senate District.
Painter, who has criticized Hoffmann for handing out large sums of money in the weeks before the Nov. 5 election, said Hoffmann's grade rating by an environmental group is equivalent to a D-minus.
